Scary hey? Think again.

"The Box Jellyfish has 24 eyes and 4 brains and can swim faster than a man, trailing meters of deadly, chemically weaponized tentacles which fire automatically on contact with flesh!"

Holy shit! Get me out of the water!

Hang on...

...What would the last thing that an animal with the consistency of... well... jelly and which sticks to anything it touches, want?
I imagine that being thrashed to jellyfish snot by the giant panicking mammal to which you've become accidentally adhered, would be high on the list.

A revealing fact is that most of the, now more than forty, known species of these most venomous of all the world's creatures, have only recently been discovered. This is at least partly due to the fact that, with 24 eyes, 4 brains and the ability to out-swim a human, Box Jellyfish are extremely good at getting the hell out of the way of huge, potentially dangerous things that they couldn't eat if they tried!!
But to see, is key. Indeed, the vast majority of stings, at least here in Australia, are in shallow, murky coastal waters near mangroves and in surf where everyone is being tossed around in the same salad bowl.
